Fulton Hosts Annual “Stuff the Bus” Event

stuff-the-bus-2016Once again this summer Fulton Homes partnered with KEZ 99.9 for the annual Fulton Homes “Stuff the Bus” campaign. This event aids deserving families by helping to collecting school supplies for for kids who could use help getting the things they need for the upcoming school year. This year’s donation drive ran from June 6 to July 10 at Chandler Fashion Center.

“Donations to our Stuff the Bus campaign make a positive difference in the lives of these children,” said Fulton Homes CEO Doug Fulton. “We’re making sure these kids get off to a good start in the first few days of the school year.”

A full-size school bus was parked inside the Macy’s Courtyard with painted paper handprints and the name of each child in need. The handprints contain a list of items each child requires for a successful school year. Supporters donated to a specific child or made a general contribution of requested items, such as pencils, pens, notebooks, backpacks, school uniforms and shoes. Shoppers also had the option to return the handprint with school supplies to the mall’s guest services area.

The campaign benefited the Boys and Girls Club of the East Valley Compadre Branch in Chandler. At the end of the campaign thousands of backpacks and tons of supplies were handed out at a July event.

Fulton Homes a 2016 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year

energy-star-2016Fulton Homes is proud to receive a 2016 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year – New Home Builder Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Fulton Homes received this award for its continuing outstanding efforts to build energy-efficient homes.

This is the second consecutive year that Fulton Homes has received this recognition, and our accomplishment will be recognized, along with all other ENERGY STAR Partners, on April 13th in Washington D.C.

This award comes in recognition of Fulton Homes:

  • Building more than 300 ENERGY STAR certified homes, with a total of over 3,000 since joining the program in 2009.
  • Launching an educational Energy Center in one of our model homes in a 600 home-site community. Visitors can learn about ENERGY STAR and EPA’s Indoor airPlus programs.

Granite Adds Color to Kitchen

If you’re drawn to painted cabinets in a kitchen but worry that there won’t be enough color with your choice, take a look at this option, from the Surfliner model at Cooley Station. The cabinets are white, the appliances stainless, but this kitchen is anything but bland thanks to the dramatic granite countertop.

With every Fulton Home, granite countertops are standard in your kitchen. This choice is perfect with white cabinets. First, there is enough light color in the stone to connect the countertop with the cabinetry, yet there is still enough contrast to be effective. The natural brown and gold elements warm up the space, filling in the tones normally provided by stained wood cabinets.

Interesting flooring: By their nature, bathrooms tend to be the smallest rooms in a home, which means that your design options are more limited. However it also means that you can splurge a bit on options such as flooring because there isn’t as much square footage to cover. This floor is both interesting and unusual. It has the look of rounded river rocks cut flush to make up the floor. The same stone is used for the sink’s backsplash.

We may select a daring paint option for a room like the almost-black on this bedroom’s left wall. Window coverings often come next, followed by larger, then smaller pieces of furniture. We finish up with accessories and art.

But one thing we generally don’t do is worth the extra step. Before the flooring, the paint and the furniture, take a minute to look up. What does your ceiling have to offer in a room? If you’re stuck with one of those popcorn ceilings from a few decades ago, it may be time to hire someone to redo it. From now until Veteran’s Day – November 11 – any visitor to a Fulton Homes’ community who tours one of the new model homes has the opportunity to buy a full-size American flag kit for only $10.  Fulton Homes will match any $10 donation offered up a maximum of $25,000, with 100 percent of these donations going to the Wounded Warriors Project. Fulton Homes wants to encourage everyone to display a flag on Veteran’s Day and make a difference in the lives of veterans too.

Avoiding Space-wasting Corner Cabinets

These kitchens look efficient and take up a small amount of space, but there is one problem: the corner cabinet. When you have a U-shaped kitchen, one or two of the cabinets have space that is not easily accessible, so a large amount of storage space is essentially wasted.

Notice instead how this kitchen is designed to avoid cabinets in the corners. One corner holds the double ovens, and the other is taken up with a generous walk-in pantry. This means that all the space in every cabinet seen here is easily accessible from the front.

Often you have to spend time in a kitchen to determine how well it really is designed. A kitchen can look appealing but once you’ve settled in you find all of the problems. Issues such as corner cabinets with their wasted space aren’t obvious at first glance.
